Bumbling around the garden in study leave with my camera.

greetings cards

I've had 50 of these printed with photos of my landscape paintings of my local area on, just to see how well they sold, and so far they've done really well! Thinking of making a re-run. £2 each. There are actually 7 different designs, but the others have all gone :)

Spinning in the lavender field

A painting I did this afternoon (acrylic on canvas) whilst listening to The Hobbit on TAPE, so incredibly old school, but I'm ill and it made everything better.  This is done from a photo from the 'girl in the lavender field' set I posted a while back.  I think I might do a set once I get all the photos printed off, but we'll see how it goes.

the fight

This was the last piece that I painted in the 12 hour exam last week.  It's from one of the photos I took from the inspiration of the Holi festival (photos are already on here somewhere down there).  Instead of using a colour photograph though I used on of the ones i edited black and white, making the whole scene a lot more menacing and scary.  The clouds of paint appear more like clouds of dust after an explosion, this makes the people look more vulnerable or violent.  I added dark purples and blues so that it wasn't all just plain black and white, and I think the end result is quite effective.  It's very rushed as I did it with only an hour and a half left to go, so to get it completed in the time was a feat in itself! A0 size, acrylic on canvas.

running on piano keys

Taken on a day out to Kiftsgate Court (warwickshire).  The gardens are amazing, especially this black lake/pond hedged garden with tall water pad fountains at one end.  These stepping stones look incredible, the way they're so regular and the perfect reflections on the water.  I intend to some back here and re-make these photos but with Karina in a big floaty dress, or something that shows the movement well :)

EXAM

Here are the portraits that I managed to get done in the exam (12 hours).  Hopefully they will look quite striking as a set of six (adding the 2 underneath this post).  The photos I've taken of them aren't great, but I'm quite pleased with the way they resemble the photos and how the colours work together.  I finished with an hour 1/2 left, so my art teacher persuaded me to do a larger group photo (one of the ones where they're all throwing paint at each other and it looks like clouds) but in muted colours,, like dark purples and blues.  Because I had very little time left the style of it is much looser and more impressionistic than these.
Anyway, art is now finished! Only one more week left at school, ever :(

Dom

No. 2 in the exam series.  Not as successful as the last one, but after the exam, hopefully I'll have 3 more to make an impact as a set. :)
